Previously, ODCC carried out a series of standards and evaluation work for low-carbon data centers to help the industry clarify the carbon emissions during data center operations. To further sort out the carbon emissions of the data center-related industry chain and guide data centers to prioritize the use of green and low-carbon products and technologies, the "Zero Carbon Computing Power Co-construction Plan" was born.
Carbon emission calculation and testing for tape storage
1. Description of the testing project
Test product: Fujifilm LTO data stream tape LTO8
Test environment: operated using TS4500 tape library
Testing basis: FG-Y05-014-01 "Tape Library Product Power Consumption Testing Method and Carbon Emission Calculation Method"
Testing content:
1) Idle power of the drive and idle power of the tape library
2) Maximum power of the robotic arm
3) Maximum power of the drive and maximum power of the tape library
4) Carbon emissions of the tested LTO tape during the tape library operation cycle

2. Display of test results
It can be seen that the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology conducts carbon emission accounting and testing for data center-related products and solutions at every stage, including raw material collection, product production, transportation, sales, usage, waste disposal, and recycling. The conclusion shows that Fujifilm's products and solutions have achieved good energy-saving and carbon reduction effects throughout the entire life cycle.
